Vieques - Eco tourism vacation island is located 7 miles east of Puerto Rico and is a long skinny island, populated in the middle part only. The rest of Vieques is devoted to the many reserves of US Fish & Wildlife and the DRNA. These reserves dominate 2/3 of Vieques Island and consist mainly of dry forest and beaches. The world famous bioluminescent bay is what attracts many people in the first place but they return for the beautiful, isolated beaches. The population of Vieques is around 10,000. The principal economy is based on tourism and fishing. Government jobs also play a large part. There is no traffic light but there are many horses. Vieques travel.
