Beautiful
'Blue Beach' on the Eastern US Fish & Wildlife Reserve in
Vieques, Puerto Rico
Blue
Beach is a local favorite and has several Bohios along the beach
where you can picnic. This is a gentle beach with surf towards
the west end and calm towards the east end.
This
is a great beach to snorkel from, especially by kayak! You can
swim alot further, get alot less tired and feel safer with a kayak.
Isla Chiva, shown on the left has very good snorkeling on the
lee side ( which would be on the other side from this photo) You
are looking west in this photo and the better snorkeling is on
the west side of the island. There is also snorkeling around the
tip of just about every rock on these beaches, the trick is to
find a calm spot to snorkel.
Safety
Tip. Make sure you get an anchor to take with you when renting
kayaks. You are also required by law to have a lifejacket and
a whistle with each kayak and a light for every kayak after dark.
Below,
a couple of 'beach bums' at the beach with their rental kayaks
on the Jeep. 3 Kayaks are about as many as can easily fit on the
hood, two is even easier. These kayaks are from Golden Heron Kayaks.
